Australian Cobberdogs come in a range of sizes from miniature to a standard. The main sizes are as follows:
Miniature :Height: 33cms to 42cms to the withers, Weight: 7-12kg
Medium: Height: 42cms to 51cms to the withers, Weight 13 to 20kg
Standard:Height:
51cms to 61cms to the withers, Weight: 20-35kg
We currently breed mediums to large mediums/small standard BUT are considering a smaller range.
Whats the pros and cons of the different sizes.
Miniature the pros would be they are small, they eat less so will be cheaper to maintain. Being smaller if used for a job like a therapy type role or assistance they can be hurt or injured more easily and can be harder for their person to walk as they are further away from them. As a family pet they can be a perfect size if thefamily prefers a smaller dog.
Mediums, middle of the road and quite a wide size difference. This size is really quite versatile, large enough to be a dog with a job but not so big they can’t be lifted. This size can make amazing family pets that wont get underfoot and big snuggly care bears for children. Negatives their bigger frame will take up a little more room and they will eat a bit more.
Standards, Great size for all type of dog job roles and beautiful big bears for family pets. Cons they will eat more and more expensive to maintain.
